Emergencies
In the event of a medical or psychiatric emergency, please go to your nearest ER or call 911. If an urgent psychiatric issue arises after hours, Psychiatric Care is provided 24 hours a day for emergencies. The number of the emergency contact is available on the office voicemail. This emergency contact information is available to established patients of Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Rousseau only.
Prescription Refills
Refill requests should come from your pharmacy. Please allow 2 business days for the refill request to be processed. In the event that you are not contacted by your pharmacy in reasonable amount of time, please contact our office. Psychiatrists that may be providing call coverage on weekends and holidays have specific instructions not to provide controlled substance refills and will refill other medications at their own discretion. Please understand that this is for your safety.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality between patient and psychiatrist is necessary for successful treatment. It is essential that you feel free to discuss whatever you may want in therapy without concern that information will be disclosed to third parties. As a general rule, no information will be disclosed without your explicit consent (traditionally written). However, there are several exceptions to this rule. Please be aware that your safety, above all else, is our top priority. If we believe your safety is in jeopardy, we will take whatever measures are necessary in order to protect you. If someone else is in danger because of your actions, we are obligated to warn them, even without your consent.
As stated previously, we will submit a reimbursement claim at your request. Please note that some insurance companies will ask that we complete treatment plans. Typically treatment plans ask for detailed information including diagnosis, history of presenting problem and other personal information. This will be done only if you have given written permission for us to do so.
